CHANGING Grooms Hair and Beauty Spa in Weymouth raised more than £140 for Weldmar Hospicecare Trust through a grand raffle which they held over the festive period.

Five prizes worth over £360 were up for grabs including Ice Smile laser teeth whitening, phytic peel from Southern Skin Solutions, a makeover and photo shoot by Wayne Lee Taylor and two £50 Changing Grooms vouchers.

Changing Grooms owner Nicki Kerr, who organised the raffle, said: “We wanted to do something for a local charity. Weldmar is very close to a lot of people’s hearts and we knew that raising money for a local cause really would make a difference.”

All the prizes were generously donated by local companies so all the money raised went to Weldmar.

Its community fundraiser Matt Smith said: “I would like to thank not just Nicki and the other companies who donated the fantastic prizes but also the local community for purchasing a ticket. Everyone is stuck for cash in these difficult economic times and £143 will go towards enabling us to continue to provide care throughout Dorset free of charge to patients and their families.”

Anyone wishing to put on an event in aid of Weldmar can phone the fundraising office on 01305 261800 or visit www.weld-hospice.org.uk for more information.
